Programme Notes
The work is a theme and five variations on the German chorale Was lebet. 4barsrest describes the variations as contrasting, from a stately opening through a playful waltz to a fugal fifth variation that leads back to the chorale.

Notes
- Grade and duration. Not found. Neither the Studio Music listings nor the preview score give a grade or duration, and no SP&S or composer's page for the work was found (an SP&S shop search returned no product). The work is in SP&S's Judd Street Collection; the spec's open point on Salvation Army series as a difficulty signal is undecided, so the series is not shown as a grade.
- Year. 2017 is from 4barsrest ("written in 2017") and Brass Band Results. The preview score is © 2019 Salvationist Publishing & Supplies.
- Publisher. Studio Music lists the publisher as "SP&S" in the series "SPS Judd Street Collection"; the score's footer reads "The Judd Street Collection". Studio Music is the seller, not the publisher. Under the title the score prints "(T.B. 911)", presumably the chorale's number in the Salvation Army tune book (not confirmed).
- Instrumentation. From the publisher's preview score, which follows the Salvation Army layout (Solo, 1st and 2nd Cornets; no Repiano or 3rd Cornet). It has single staves for Euphonium and each bass, and two percussion staves. The percussion list collects every instrument named in the 27 preview pages, which reach the end of Variation V; that the preview is the whole score was not confirmed.
- Cost. Prices are from Studio Music, the seller; brassband.co.uk shows the same. No price from SP&S itself was found.
- Premiere. Not found. 4barsrest says its first set-work use was at the Swiss National Championships in 2022.
- Media. No recording found.
- Contest Use. From Brass Band Results. Countries are not given because no source states them.
- Composer's site (read 2026-11-08). Andrew Wainwright's own site has a page for the work. It confirms 2017, five variations, SP&S as publisher, and the set uses at the 2022 Swiss Nationals, 2024 Dutch Nationals and 2026 Regionals. It gives no grade, duration or premiere, so those stay empty.
- Media (added 2026-11-08). The International Staff Band (Dr Stephen Cobb) recording on the CD Pulse is from the composer's site, which supersedes the earlier "No recording found". The label, catalogue number and year are not stated.
- French Open section name. The composer's site calls the 2026 French Open (Amboise, 5-7 June 2026) use the "1st Section"; Brass Band Results calls it First Division, which is kept here.
